Job description

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Data Engineering team at HDAI. This small and nimble team owns the data ingestion pipelines from HDAI’s health system customers and plays a critical part of our operation. High quality ingestion and interpretation of clinical data is at the core of producing AI models which can be trusted by clinicians. This role comes at a key turning point in our product development: We are transitioning from a legacy application to a Python-based, AWS-native, event driven architecture (you should be familiar with Lambdas, ECS, SQS, and S3, or similar technologies). Strong software development skills are a must, your code must meet a high bar of quality assurance while achieving deadlines effectively. Job responsibilities
  • Participate in building our new ETL framework built on AWS Lambdas, ECS, SQS, and S3
  • Maintain and optimize existing data pipelines and ETL code to support data ingestion from HDAI’s customers
  • Work with clinicians to understand the data and design new ingestion frameworks for new customers
  • Participate with test-driven development by writing unit and integration tests for your code
  • Maintain software using agile best practices, document and fix bugs, update release notes, update documentation, and address backlog items on a regular basis
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment with peers across many teams
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of working experience in data engineering, including ETL and dataset management
  • Familiarity with developing for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Docker
  • Experience with AWS Lambdas, ECS, SQS, S3, as well as Terraform are a plus
  • Proficient in implementing event-driven architectures composed of stateless services
  • Extensive software development experience in Python or similar languages
  • Applicants must possess a strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex software issues through effective debugging techniques
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD pipelines
  • Comfortable working with Git and working on a team using agile/scrum
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams; ability to develop trust, cooperation, and mutual respect

Job description

We are looking for an AIOps/MLOps Engineer to join our team at HDAI. This team owns our inference pipeline (deployment, CI/CD, monitoring), common tooling to bridge the gap between R&D and production, and an API layer to return inference results. In this role, you will be creating new pipeline components to deliver near real-time inference results, both with in-house models and LLMs, at a national scale. This role comes at a key turning point in our product development: We are transitioning from a legacy application to a Python-based, AWS-native, event driven architecture (you should be familiar with Lambdas, ECS, SQS, and S3, or similar technologies). Maintaining rigorous standards of quality assurance and code development are a core competency of this position – we pride ourselves on delivering model results to clinicians that they can trust.   • Contribute to the development of our new inference pipeline, model deployment pipeline, and model registry
  • Participate in the development of a new the API layer between post-process + post-inference data and the frontend application
  • Participate with test-driven development by writing unit and integration tests for your code
  • Maintain software using agile best practices, document and fix bugs, update release notes, update documentation, and address backlog items on a regular basis
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment with peers across many teams
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of working experience in either a data science role, as a machine learning engineer, or as an MLOps engineer with a background in mathematics or equivalent field of study
  • Familiarity with developing for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Docker
  • Experience with AWS Lambdas, ECS, SQS, S3, as well as Terraform are a plus

Job description

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our team at HDAI. You will report to the Sr. Dir. AI and Engineering, working with the AI Operations, Data Engineering, and Cloud Engineering teams. As a group, these teams are responsible for the lifecycle of clinical data and model inference at HDAI, from when data is first ingested from a customer through when the model results are reported back to them.

This position comes at a critical time in HDAI’s development: We are transitioning from a legacy application to a Python-based, AWS-native, event driven architecture (familiarity with Lambdas, ECS, SQS, and S3, or similar technologies is not required but is a big plus). You will attend daily standups and coordinate timelines across teams. Success in this role includes working with the Sr. Dir. AI and Engineering to develop Gantt charts, project plans, and technical specifications that help communicate project requirements and establish achievable timelines across these cross-functional teams. You will also perform project management for the part of new healthcare system onboarding that the engineering group is responsible.

A successful candidate has a track record of effective technical project management, with a PMP or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, has strong familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, and JIRA automations, and exemplary oral and written communication skills. Job responsibilities
  • Manage JIRA & the agile process across backend engineering (Data Engineering, AI Operations, and Cloud Engineering), ensuring efficient task management and project tracking
  • Attend daily standup meetings to help facilitate coordination and alignment among cross-functional teams
  • Ensure that quality assurance (QA) is a first-class citizen in the release process both with respect to success criteria and timelines
  • Leverage JIRA Automations to streamline ticket tracking and release processes
  • Help coordinate engineering’s involvement with new customer onboarding
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable processes and documentation for customer onboarding
  • Work with customers to make the onboarding experience seamless and straightforward
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Dir., AI and Engineering to develop Gantt charts that depict timelines accurately, fostering transparent communication and resource planning
  • Contribute to the creation of technical specifications documents to guide engineering teams effectively, promoting clarity and alignment
Qualifications
  • PMP certification strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Confluence, JIRA, and JIRA Automations with a deep understanding of their functionalities
  • Proven track record of working closely with engineering managers to successfully delivering complex projects within specified timelines, including effective risk management strategies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey project requirements, progress, and potential risks to stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to different project management methodologies, including agile and waterfall, to suit project needs while driving continuous improvement initiatives

George has over two decades of consulting, business development and client success experience in health care, working with both providers and payers to address their most pressing challenges. The bulk of his healthcare career was with The Advisory Board, Optum, Premier and Verisk Health, with a focus on risk mitigation, value-based care and population health management. He is deeply passionate about helping healthcare organizations do their best for their patients and beneficiaries. 

When he’s not working, you will find him playing guitar, riding his bike or spending time with family, friends, and his dog Luna.  

Summer Kramer
VP Clinical Programs

Summer is a clinical pharmacist with over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including hospitals, payors, and start-ups. Summer has focused her career on clinical program development and healthcare analytics with a constant drive to improve patient outcomes.

Residing in the pacific northwest, Summer enjoys hiking, camping, sailing, and traveling. She received her PharmD from the University of New Mexico, College of Pharmacy.  

Karan (Kay) Mansukhani
VP Business Development

Kay has a decade of experience in population health analytics.  Starting his career in Maryland’s state-designated HIE – CRISP,  he was entrusted to set up the infrastructure and data elements needed by health system to achieve CMMIs Triple Aim. Kay is a trained epidemiologist who has a passion for preventive medicine, psychology, and anthropology. Kay enjoys spending lazy days with his wife Sonal, and son Avtar on the beach.  Kay also enjoys listening to podcasts, playing the guitar and badminton. He received his joint MPH MBA from Johns Hopkins University.

Kevin Sampson
VP Finance

Kevin is a CPA with 25 years of executive and managerial experience in accounting, corporate finance, and operations in a variety of industries including medical device, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.

By listening and connecting with people, Kevin understands that accurate timely information is vital for everyone in the healthcare system. He received a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Studies from Babson College.

Paul Manberg
VP Clinical and Regulatory Affairs

Paul is an innovative, pragmatic leader with over 40 years’ experience in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. He has directed clinical trial programs and regulatory activities supporting the successful market introduction of numerous impactful products. He spends his leisure time on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, body surfing and fishing. He received a PhD in pharmacology from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Scott Greenwald
Chief Scientist

With over 25 years’ experience in healthcare research and innovation, Scott is an unprecedented leader in his field, focusing on improved care for everyone. He is an author of over 10 US Patents and over 100 peer-reviewed abstracts and manuscripts. While he’s not immersed in research, you’ll find him playing a mean round of mini golf. He received a PhD in Medical Engineering from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST).

Josh Gray VP Analytic Services

Josh has 30 years’ experience in healthcare, including The Advisory Board Company, athenahealth, and Boston Consulting Group. Across his career, he has used a wide range of conventional and unconventional data sources to understand and teach the keys to top performance among the nation’s most innovative health systems and physician groups. Josh enjoys music, hiking, traveling, and watching his daughter take part in synchronized skating competitions. He received an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree from Brown University.
